The wait is finally over — OpenAI has officially released Sora, its long-anticipated AI video generator. Sora aims to set a new standard in AI-powered video creation, offering an intuitive experience with cutting-edge capabilities. Although I haven’t had a chance to dive fully into Sora just yet, the initial demos suggest it still maintains an edge over competing tools despite the industry’s rapid advancements.
Sora’s Pricing and Availability
OpenAI has integrated Sora with its existing ChatGPT plans. Here’s a breakdown of its pricing structure:
ChatGPT Plus Plan ($20/month)
- Up to 50 videos per month (1,000 credits).
- Maximum resolution: 720p.
ChatGPT Pro Plan ($200/month)
- Up to 500 videos per month (10,000 credits).
- Maximum resolution: 1080p (20-second videos).
- Five concurrent video generations.
- Unlimited relaxed mode (slower processing).
- Option to download watermark-free videos.
However, Sora isn’t globally available just yet. It currently excludes countries like the UK and the EU due to stringent AI-related legal frameworks. OpenAI is working to address these regulatory hurdles.
The Sora Interface and Features
The Sora dashboard is user-friendly and familiar, with options to manage recent videos, saved files, and organized folders. Notable features include:
- Video Filtering: Filter by prompts, storyboards, remixes, blends, and loops.
- Aspect Ratio Options: Choose between standard 16:9, square (1:1), or vertical (9:6) formats.
- Settings: Customize themes, manage content visibility on the explore page, and opt in or out of using your content for training purposes.
- Preset Styles: Options like Balloon World, Stop Motion, and Film Noir, with support for custom presets.
